We were playing Secret Santa, and since I couldn’t be there in person, I wanted to make something digital. I asked my aunt about my cousin without telling her what I planned.
On December 27, 2024, Chilean artist Sery released “Amigo Secreto”, a playful and emotional trap single born from a digital Secret Santa exchange. Living in Canada while her cousin was in Brazil, Sery decided to create a unique Christmas gift: a song built entirely from artificial intelligence.
Using messages from a WhatsApp conversation with her aunt — where she asked about her cousin’s likes and personality — she transformed those words into music. The result was a surprise for everyone: a lighthearted yet touching portrait of connection through distance.
The story of Amigo Secreto began right before Christmas 2023, when Sery’s family organized a Secret Santa gift exchange. From Canada, she drew her cousin’s name, but since he was in Brazil, her gift had to be digital.
After asking his mother about his interests, she used AI to turn that conversation into a full song — without telling anyone in advance. What started as a joke turned into a small family surprise and a reflection on love, distance, and creativity in the digital age.
