Conexión

‘Conexión’ is very personal because it’s the first song I ever wrote with a melody at 15. I left it unfinished for years until life — and pain — brought me back to it.

About The Song

Sound Elements: Opens with solo violin and bass; layered reverb-heavy vocals; orchestral mix of piano and violin; climax blending dramatic strings with stripped-back voice. Tempo & Key: 60 BPM; G# minor.

Loss & Longing: fading love, fragile memory, distance.

Connection & Disconnection: the bond once strong now breaking apart.

Nostalgia: revisiting memories, teenage innocence, and emotional growth.

On June 16, 2024, Chilean artist Sery released “Conexión”, the penultimate track of her concept EP La Maldición del Ángel. Originally written when she was just 15 years old, the song revisits the fragile beauty of a past bond — a connection once so strong it felt like it could stop time, now slipping into memory and longing. With its orchestral textures, reverb-heavy vocals, and dramatic instrumental arrangement, “Conexión” captures the emotional weight of nostalgia and fading love.

“Conexión” is rooted in Sery’s teenage years: the first draft of the song was written at 15 but left unfinished for years. When rediscovered, the lyrics about distance and fading bonds felt even more real. However, while trying to finish it, Sery faced one of her most difficult creative blocks. That moment of silence gave birth to the EP’s larger story arc — leading to songs like Círculo Vicioso and eventually the EP’s climax in La Maldición del Ángel.

The song became a bridge between past and present, holding within it the pain of lost connection but also the seeds of Sery’s rebirth.

Lyrics

La memoria empieza a fallarme,
no sé cuánto más pueda recordarte.
Lo único que hago es pensarte,
no sé cuánto más pueda aguantarme.

Te he sentido tan lejos
en todo este tiempo.
Ya no te siento,
estamos perdiendo.

Esa conexión
que teníamos antes, todo era un cuento.
Esa conexión
se sentía de lejos, frenabas el tiempo.
Frenabas el tiempo.

Aún no logro despertarme,
no sé cuánto más pueda amarte.
He aprendido a soñarte,
he aprendido a imaginarte.

Te he sentido tan lejos
en todo este tiempo.
Ya no te siento,
estamos perdiendo.

Esa conexión
que teníamos antes, todo era un cuento.
Esa conexión
se sentía de lejos, frenabas el tiempo.

Esa conexión
que teníamos antes, todo era un cuento.
Esa conexión
se sentía de lejos, frenabas el tiempo.

Frenabas el tiempo.

Tus ojitos tan dulces
y mirada perdida,
yo caía rendida
y solo era tu amiga.

Ya los años pasaron
y vuelvo a escribirte,
vuelvo a pensarte,
vuelvo a contarte.

Cada día que pasaba
me sentía afortunada
de poder conocerte,
de poder abrazarte.

Te he sentido tan lejos
en todo este tiempo.
Ya no te siento,
ya no te encuentro.

Ya no estás en mis sueños,
pero sí en mis recuerdos.
Ya olvidamos,
ya lo superamos.

My memory starts to fade,
don’t know how long I’ll still recall your name.
All I do is think of you,
don’t know how much longer I can stay the same.

I’ve felt you so distant
through all this time.
I can’t feel you anymore —
we’re losing the line.

That connection
we once had, it felt like a fairytale.
That connection,
I could feel it from afar — you stopped the time,
you stopped the time.

I still can’t seem to wake up,
don’t know how much longer I can love you.
I’ve learned how to dream of you,
I’ve learned how to imagine you.

I’ve felt you so distant
through all this time.
I can’t feel you anymore —
we’re losing the line.

That connection
we once had, it felt like a fairytale.
That connection,
I could feel it from afar — you stopped the time.

That connection
we once had, it felt like a fairytale.
That connection,
I could feel it from afar — you stopped the time.

You stopped the time.

Your eyes so sweet,
your gaze so lost,
I fell completely —
and I was just your friend.

Now the years have passed,
and I write to you again.
I think of you again,
I start to tell you again.

Every day that went by,
I felt lucky just to know you,
to hold you close,
to have found you.

I’ve felt you so distant
through all this time.
I can’t feel you anymore,
can’t seem to find you.

You’re no longer in my dreams,
but you live in my memories.
We’ve both moved on —
we finally let it be.
